Arthur's Poem

This poem was written by my son Art and dedicated to his brother Gabe and the friends he lost during his tour in Iraq.  It was inspired by the book 'Blackhawk Down', which is a favorite read of Art's.  This kid plays the tuba, he wears baggy pants (mostly because he's so skinny), he says goofy things like 'bow chikka bow-wow' and 'your face is showing!' and listens to loud noise he calls music.  Who would have thought he could compose something as emotional and deep as this.

  8. Wow... I would never, ever have known it was written by one of the oompas while reading it.  Awesome.  Art has some serious writing chops there... but, look who his mom is... not surprising.  Great!!!  Tell him to keep writing, poems, stories, journals... all of it.  I see a career on the horizon???  Even Stars and Stripes needs writers!

    be well,
    Dawn

  12. Darn you Dorn, darn you Art!!!!! You made Grandpa cry; happy, sad, proud, but cry all the same.  Good poem, good message, good memorial for those who gave their all.
