A PETITION TO THE PRINCIPAL

I just found a handwritten petition on the dining table and wanted to share it with you.  Its addressed to the principal of Rocky's elementary school.

September 23, 2004

Dear Mr. Bunger,

This is an organized sheet with many kids who want better ketchup, hot sauce & BBQ sauce choices (different seasonings).  Please consider the following.

Sincerely,

Rachel

This little petition is already signed by 20 students, and the girls have a meeting with the principal on Monday.  You know what, if the Principal doesn't give them their request, I just may have to donate some decent condiments to the school myself because I'm so proud of the girls for going about this in such a mature manner.  Its sooooo unlike something I would have done when I was a kid!  I just grumbled about the runny catsup... which was ALL we got, not hotsauce good, bad or otherwise... and used it anyway.

GO Rocky GO! My whole 8th grade class did the same thing with a sit in then a walk out for us kids who were crossing guards to get hot chocolate on cold winter days after freezing our butts off making sure the younger children crossed the streets safely!  We won that battle! Good luck Rocky!

You go girls!!!  Remember to prepare your list of whys, be polite and grateful for the opportunity to speak and have the number for the ACLU handy.  Just in case.

Now that's the kind of behavior that would make a mom very proud.  Hell it makes me proud of a group of young people who want to affect a change, but to do it within the system and to do it with respect for others.

Congrats on the counter.  Have a party.  Serve cocktails.  Free bar to all!!

awwww...that is so neat..hope they get what they want..Our school has the best condiments. I remember when they brought them in..before they put them out they made an announcement telling the students if anyone was ever caught using these condiments in any other way then they should be used the cafeteria will stop putting them out. It was really funny..first few weeks..kids were actually going around patroling to make sure everyone was using it right!! That season salt sure meant a lot to them..hehe

That is SO mature and cool. If they don't get the response they want, they should take it to the PTA!
