I just heard the most ridiculous thing this morning while scrounging around for something hot for Rocky to eat for breakfast. We had eaten all of the eggs over the weekend, and the boys had finished off the last of the oatmeal. All that was left was a bag of ramen.
"Art licked that" Rocky said, shaking her head when I handed the package to her.
"What do you mean... Art licked it? Why did he lick it?" I asked, thrusting the bag back at her. She still refused to take it.
"Art licked it, that means he claims it."
"What! You can't go around licking things just so nobody else will eat it! Thats stupid! Here, eat this!" I tossed the bag on the table and continued to rumage through the cupboard. Kids now days, do they really think they can just lick something and it automatically becomes their property? I don't think so!
Suddenly I spotted a lone moon pie sitting ontop of a can of soup. The kids must have missed it earlier because these things don't last long in our house. I snatched it up, licked the wrapper and stuck it on the top of the shelf for later.

LIFE IN YOUR HOUSE WOULD BE A TRIP TO SAY THE LEAST, BUT THOSE CHILDREN ARE SO BLESSED TO HAVE YOU AS THEIR MOTHER DORN. :)
I ALMOST SPIT COLA ON THE SCREEN WHEN I READ THE PART ABOUT THE MOON PIE! SO TYPICAL OF YOU, YOU NUT! LOL!!
KIM.
::giggle:: My son tried to do that with a pint of ice cream. The amusing part was ....his tongue temporarily got stuck to the packaging. See if he tries that again....LOL

?Moon Pie? I thought no way I would bring that forth but you didn't disappoint me bless your heart! "Food" for thought. My teenage boy loves the hot stuff for breakfast too. Sundays I take the texas toast from the day old store $1.49 vs the $2.79 local grocer and make a couple loafs of French tst then zip em and freez em! If he don't eat'em I Will!
LMAO! Your kids are too funny, Jody. :)

You are a hoot. I'm glad my kids didn't know about that rule when they were growing up. everything in the house would have had lick marks on them.

OMG that's so funny! I guess if that's the only way to claim something, it's the best way! Too funny!
Be grateful they don't mark what's theirs the way dogs do. I mean, urinating on noodles and Moon Pies could get, well, messy.
so if you lick your Corona bottles, do you think Dickidoo will stay away? hmm, maybe I better go lick my hangover cure drinks (Red Bulls), right after I lick my wine bottle ;-)

The "lick it to claim it" is from a car commercial (VW i think.) It shows a couple racing a man to the dream car...he gets there a few seconds ahead of them, and wildly marks the cars as his by licking the door handle, ensuring no one else will touch it. Leave it to a kid to apply this to food....although, my brother did the same thing by taking bites out of my treats when i was a kid, poisoning them with cooties. <sigh>
omg..cracking up here...I totally forgot about this rule..my brothers used to use it when we were little..I swear..me...I would hide food under my bed..(my brothers would lick everything so I wouldn't eat it)until one time I forgot my Easter basket had eggs in it..long story short..hehe..(I was spoiled and had 2 bedrooms) I guess I didn't go into the room where I hid my basket for a few days and..omg..the smell and the flies (yep, even those little dang magots) gross I know..but taught me a lesson..I started licking the food I wanted to claim!
