All my kids lives I've been waiting for them to grow up and become self sufficient so that I could maybe have some kind of peace while at home and in their presence. I provided them with cell phones to keep tabs on them so that I can have peace of mind when they are not in my presence.
Sucker!
Now they phone and text me constantly when we're apart and are like talking fly paper when we're together. Very little has changed from the days when I would hide in the bathroom only to be followed with little fingers wiggling from under the door as inquisitive voices demanded to know what I was doing.
For the past 25 years I've not had a moment's peace.
Little by little though the flock is leaving the nest and flying away. By the end of the year it could very well just be one fledging spawn remaining. I'm looking forward to the empty nest and setting off on my own but that will happen in it's own good time. For now, I revel in their company, as irritating as it can be sometimes.
I could use a little less of the guilt trip phone calls though. Seriously Rocky, you will not freeze to death on the 1/2 mile walk home from school. And why don't you try calling your dad's cell phone for a change huh? You're 50% his fault too!
Good grief!

Oh so true! Mine have been underfoot constantly and one of my friends said I'd miss it. Yah, probably but it doesn't change the fact that they drive me crazy some days!
Good luck with your kids and all that ME time you're looking forward to. I hope you get it. My children flew the coop only to come home again, in their thirties. Some days I think it will NEVER end.
Lets just hope you dont get emptyness syndrome and become depressed once everyone does leave you that would be bad.

PPS.. YOU NEVER COME VISIT MY BLOG BTW!
My youngest is about to turn 18 in May. I am not looking forward to having an empty nest. I live for my family. Guess I better find a hobby quick, eh? Too bad we don't live closer. I would actually love to move back to Colorado, but it just isn't in the cards right now. :( Have missed you!
Blessings!
Susan
I used to crave peace and quiet, but now my daughter and I are so close I dread her moving out when she's grown. Thankfully she still says that she'll never leave!
Hello!
Stumbled across your blog on the net. Sorry for popping in randomly. I just wanted to say that I flew the coup not too long ago, and then my parents came to live with me!
It doesn't look like either of us are going to get a break from each other anytime soon, but I was glad I could be there to support them whenever they lost their house. :3
Take care!
-Random stranger.
My house has the opposite problem. Now Mandy is aat homew ith her baby, and so now whenever I want to poop there is seven year old Shelby or one year old Phoenix wanting me...we gave cell phones to the kids, but they call or text their friends non stop...
