TONY CHACHERE'S CREOLE SEASONING

If you eat a hardboiled egg, don't sprinkle Tony Chachere's Creole seasoning on it.  If you sprinkle Tony Chachere's Creole seasoning on your hardboiled egg, don't rub your eyes.  If you rub your eyes after sprinkling Tony Chachere's Creole seasoning on a hardboiled egg... procede immediately to the sink to rinse the fire out of your eyes with cool running water.  If you have not finished you hardboiled egg by now, you probably will not be in the mood for it any more.  If you managed to finish your little snack before the flames ignited upon contact with your eye's surface, you will probably forget that it was delicious.  You will probably forget everything except for one little notion:  Pain HURTS!

Further more, while you are attempting to recover from your painful encounter, do not be tempted to rub your nose unless you are sure no seasoning residue remains on your hand.  There are many unpleasant things to get on the tender membranes of your inner nostril.  Tony's Chachere Creole seasoning is on the top of the list.  It will have your nose running and burning at the same time.  You will experience the opposite of a fire-breathing dragon.   You will wonder why you have never heard of 'death by seasoning salt', because you know it must surely exist.

No where on the container is there a warning against contact with the eye or nose.  There are no emergency procedures or treatments.  No 1-800 number for accidental seasoning.  Not that I could have read it with flames shooting out from my eyelids.  Still, it would have been nice to know that I wasn't the first idiot to rub Tony's seasoning in my eyes and nose.  I do believe my eyelashes may have melted together.

In closing, I just want to say that despite the risks, I love Tony Chachere's Creole seasoning, and recommend it for just about anything and everything... except for eyes and nostrils.

That reminds me of the year I had an abundant crop of jalepino peppers, and decided to pickle and can some of them.  The recipe said to wear rubber gloves when you chop them, which I thought was ridiculous.  For several hours, the only relief I could get was to hold my hands under cold water.  And as soon as I took them out of the water, the burning was back.

Oh Dorn! Been there done that....but I had come across a seasoning glass jar without a label on  it, after shaking it up (Of course) I opened it to smell what it was and was in need of medical help ASAP! It was homemade red pepper seasoning..........I guess the sniff I took was a big one because even my sinus cavavities were on FIRE!!!!! lol

I love the way you take something as "simple" as burning by seasoning ( I don't deny your pain!) and make an entire entry about it!  YOu are so funny.  I love to read your journal cuz it makes me smile.  And we need some smiling these days!

OOO I have some of that! I love it!  But not ON me or IN me.  Never tried it on a hard boiled egg. Girl, that is awful.  Nothing like a journal entry thats the VOICE OF EXPERIENCE.

they don't put warnings on PREPARATION H against eye and nostril exposure, either.                i wonder if it'll work just as well?

I don't suppose you happen to have a photgraph of flames shooting out of your eyeballs!
Peace and love,

OMG, I hope the fire is out now. I guess that's one lesson learned that you won't soon forget. Have a great week.

OMG LOL...my hubby loves hot stuff. He puts hot sauce, hot pepper - hot anything on everything...I drew the line when it came to his ruining my Tempura! I threatened never to make it again if he didn't eat the way it was supposed to be eaten.  He doesn't just sprinkle this stuff easily...it floats through the air making me choke, cough and gag for air. I've learned to move away while he does this. So yes, I do know your pain....believe it or not I can eat the stuff, I just can't touch it, cut up the peppers or anything...it's silly.  Sandi  http://journals.aol.com/sdoscher458/LifeIsFullOfSurprises

Dorn:
I don't use it just on my eggs, but on everything from mackabaloney to fly lice.  Nobody fights me to use it "next" so I have it all for my solo use.
