So, now that Halloween is out of the way, whos ready for Thanksgiving?  Now that I am working in retail again (today will be my 3rd day back on the register  ) the holiday is already overshadowed by the Day After sales.  Traditionally the day after is when I celebrate Thanksgiving but I shall be working at 5am that day.  Thats okay though, because I should be off by noon, still lots of time to get a feast on the table afterwards.

Christmas is what I'm really looking forward to.  I love Christmas.  I love shopping for the kids.  I love buying gifts for Dickidoo to stash in the closet or shelves.  I think the rifle is the only past gift he really uses, but thats okay also because now I just buy what I want since I'm the only one who will use his presents.  I think he needs new toe socks this year.  I shall also be shopping for a Grandbaby!  (Hi Little Zachary!)  And I have a son and his Troop there in Iraq to send the Christmas Spirit to.  This will be a good year for me, I can already feel it.

What I'm most ready for though is 2006!  The faster the New Year gets here, the faster the New Year will pass, and that will get my boy home faster.  That is what I'm really waiting for.  So yeah, 2006... BRING IT ON!

22 Days Until Thanksgiving

53 Days Until Christmas

60 Days Until 2006

1775 Days Until I Turn 50

Isn't Christmas the best? I love shopping for other people. You'll have so much fun shopping for the new grandbaby!

I worked retail for about 12 years and I can truthfully say I do NOT miss it around the holidays.  The day after Thanksgiving was the worst.  We stayed open later, usually until 11:00 PM.  I am glad I am out of that game!  I prefer working from home, but it sure it hard to make myself do it sometimes!  I love Thanksgiving and Christmas.  It will be nice to celebrate it with family again since we have been away the last four.  I'm looking forward to it.  Last year, I made the whole dinner myself.  This year I only have to make the mac and cheese and a green bean casserole.  Everyone else is contributing, like a covered dish dinner, so my Mom won't have to do it all.  Works out great.

Still praying for Gabe and his comrades, as well as all of our other troops.

I've never known whether to envy or pity the fact that you have Thanksgiving so closely followed by Christmas!

Sounds like you've got a good arrangement going on there with Dickadoo - Do you think he'd like some scented bath oils and a negligee for Christmas?

I'm a Christmas lover, myself.  The music, the decorations, and unfortunately, the food !  But, like you, I am ready for this year to be over, and move on to what I hope will be a better one.  Hope all is well with your son .... you must be soooo anxious for him to get back.  I would be counting the days, too.  Tina

Good Grief ... you had TIME to calculate the number of days to "that ripe OLD age" ... tsk tsk ... you will have forgotten what you were counting to by the time you reach that goal!  Happy Christmas!  Hope we BOTH get a white one this year.
