UPDATE....

It was 10 pm before I got in touch with my parents on Sunday evening.  Their only real problem was the power outage which lasted for about 10 hours.  As suspected, that didn't even slow them down.  Mama found a little propane burner and was cooking on that,  Daddy monitored the Emergency Radio Band, and my brother did 'emergency civil defence repairs'.  The rain and humitity seemed to be the bigger issue, which is usually always the case anyway.

Art and Becca's marching band made it to the State Semi-Finals, which will be held at Fort Collins this weekend.  So far their High School ranks 7th overall in their division.  Go Mesa Ridge Grizzlies.... GGRRRRRRRRRRRR!  (I'm soooo proud of my Little Oompas!)

Dickidoo came home from Elk Camp early... with an ELK!  Yahoo!  It was a very decent sized cow elk (female).  He had to quarter it up (cut it in fourths) to pack it out from the area he shot it, and now it is aging in our second refrigerator down stairs.  Looks like we'll be feasting on elk stew through the winter after all... darn, and I was so looking forward to beans and weenies till spring!

Glad to hear your family in Hawaii is OK.

I've never tried elk meat, but I'm an adventurous eater. If I'm ever in Colorado, I'll be dropping in to try some.

Jody-Glad the family is ok. See you worried for nothing. You knew exactly what they were doing the whole time lol. Probably won't be around for the next few days due to the wake & funeral. Keep us in your thoughts. Pray that this rain we are having will stop, I would like the sunshine tommorrow. Linda never liked the rain to begin with.

Glad your family is OK also.  My sister said it was pretty scary and the aftershocks were almost worse then the first one.  No damage though.

So glad that you heard from them and that they are alright. I think the distance is the hardest thing to deal with.   When stuff happens in New York I worry so about my kids...so I know the feeling very well.  Sandi

I'm glad they are all ok.  My brother in law was on the Big Island but on the other side.  He said there were at least 3 big ones but they only felt 2.
Go marching band!  And yeah for Dickidoo!  Glad he will keep you in stew this year.

I was talking about y'all last night with a retired pediatrician who is going deer hunting next week with a black powder rifle. I told him yall were hunting elk and we wondered, does it taste the same as deer or is it different? Inquiring Kentucky minds need to know...
