It's an Oompy!

There is a new Oompa in town, or should I say... an Oompy. Meet Jubilee, a 9 week old pedigree basset hound who came into our lives when Dickidoo was suffering from a moment of weakness and gave in to the begging and pleading of his youngest daughter. I had already told Rocky 'no', but when her father asked me what I thought about the whole idea, I realized that for him to even want to know what I thought was a sign of weakness.

Of course I thought it was a good idea!

So now we have a short legged, floppy eared, droopy eyed, cat shit eating pooch who has the entire household wrapped around her big fat paws. We rush around the house doing our thing but one sight of her little cuteness and we drop to our knees, baby talking like blubbering idiots.

My only complaint so far is that she is in fact a cat shit eating pooch. Being as up until Sunday we were one of the few houses in the neighborhood that did not have a dog residing in the back yard, all the neighborhood felines saw our yard as the community litter box and made regular deposits throughout the premises. For Little Jubilee the back yard has become a huge smorgasbord and she uses her natural tracking abilities to sniff out the little treasures like a gourmet might search out a morel. And then she eats the crunchy tidbit.

And I for one am NOT going to fish the turd out of her mouth with my bare fingers!

Needless to say the puppy is NOT allowed to lick me... especially NOT on my face!

That's just 'ewwwwwww'!

ewwwww! Adorable puppy but I would not want any of those puppy kisses. When my old dog was a puppy she used to go digging for treasure's in the litter box, but I always knew because she would have litter stuck to her nose.

Ah yeah, they like to fetch it out of litter boxes too. We had a baby gate up the first year Pickles was with us. The pup is adorable though. I could see how she probably has everyone twisted around her little paws. (Hugs)Indigo

jodi, when i am down, i can always depend on your to lift me up. what i ever did before your journal came into my life, i don't know. you are the only other person in the entire world besides me that isn't ashamed to say cat shit, poopy, crap, fart, etc. i am absolutely in love with the new poopy, i mean puppy. the oompy. only experience i ever had with a bassett was one old one that used to live 2 doors up and would go out at night and sit on the dock over the lake behind our houses and bay at the moon, or call his sweetheart, or whatever it was he was doing. it was a lonesome sound, but for 4 hours straight after midnight, it got really old.

thanks for sharing both the oompy and the oompy's habits.

my dog used to eat out of our litter boxes until I treated his kitty chocolates with hot sauce. he does not like hot kitty chocolates. he is still not allowed to kiss my face!

that new oompy is too cute. Took you long enough to get hooked....
Remember ,your girls always wanted to keep Jack or sometimes Max.Well sadly we had to put them to sleep last November.I'd say they had a good life (Jack 14 / Max 12). It was a sad day...
But to help out of sadness we still have our Milo and Sandy (David calls them the rats......no....just Chihuahuas).Yep we are going smaller (travelsize) and very entertaining. Got to love them and we sure know how they keep you wraped around them little paws.
