UN-FUNNY

I work with money all day long.  I take people's money for a living, its my job and I do it well.

I think I have a decent sense of humor, really I do....

But if one more person tells me that they 'just printed that money last night', I'm going to call security and let those guys figure out if the customer is joking or not.  Folks, that stopped being funny after the first thousand times.  Enough already!  Bomb jokes aren't funny on airplanes, and counterfeit money jokes aren't funny at banks and stores.

There... okay, I feel better now that I've gotten that out of my system.

So, how was YOUR day?

That is soooo not funny.  I used to work a movie theatre and I got that all the time too.  Yuk yuk...duh.

My day?  Insane.  Last week of school, tons of crap all at once.  UGH UGH UGH... too tired and too hectic to journal it... but I will soon...

Oh, but Libby is doing well... just sad that she has the bandage and cone head when we go out.  Poor thing...

be well,
Dawn

People always think they're the first to say it! It's like hearing an old joke over and over again, you just can't laugh at it anymore can you? Jeannette xx

I have heard about fake money for years & years. But I'm not sure if I've ever come across it. And I have seen that little yellow pen for like forever. And my money has never been rejected.

i consider myself reprimanded...........sigh.........

i am a cashier at a major retail craft store chain, and we often have new bills, especially ones, in our registers at the start of a shift.  i hate them.  i usually wrinkle them up if i have time.  if i don't have time, i will tell a customer, as i hand them the new bills, that we just printed those up, be careful, they are still wet.  i guess since i am still fairly new at the retail game (2.5 years) i didn't realize it was no longer funny.........my customers always laugh hysterically at it.........sigh.............

as for funny money.........not more than two weeks ago we had someone attempt to pass a funny 100 dollar bill.  it was WHITE!!!!!  it was thickish, and pulpy, and WHITE!!!  actually it wasn't all white, it was greenish with white edges.....sorta like you would think a bill would look if it had been bleached.  but i know that real money doesn't turn white when bleached.  i knew it was funky, but i called the manager over to let him tell the guy..........and he did and i told him we couldn't take it.  he grumbled and walked out.  after he left we noticed that he was attempting to purchase "PRINTER'S INK" with the fake bill, lol.  also, my manager said that the picture on the bill looked more like elmer fudd, lol.

again, sorry dorn.............i won't do it again..........i promise....

Ohhh I get this all the time too! It drives me nuts! I had one customer who would make jokes like this all the time. The most recent time was with one of the new ten dollar bills. He laughed and said "These ones came out much better than the ones I printed yesterday where he was winking at ya!"  I quietly handed it back to him and told him I couldn't accept any money which we suspected to be counterfeit. He paid with a credit card, after assuring me that he would have the last laugh. Then he walked to the other end of the counter and asked the girl their if he could speak with the shift supervisor. She giggled and turns to me and said "Steph, this gentleman would like to speak with the supervisor. You can imagine his surprise when he realised he would be complaing to......ME! Guess he didn't get the last laugh after all! lol

ok, i had to put in my password to comment here, thats never happened - but neways..
When I worked in retail I heard that "joke" SO many times!! the first time I ever heard it, I just looked at the person for a minute- probably dumbfounded lol.But one day I had a particulary interesting customer.. I had already heard that a couple times, so when the third person said "Here's ya a crisp 20, Ijust made it" I smiled, and said "well, would u mind to make me a few of those? They dont pay me enough here to hear that 20 times a day" He then had to go into what IFS with me, since I had made a joke. (keep in mind this was the OLD 20's)  When he finally stopped lecturing me I asked him if he would like for me to have the manager come make sure it wasnt monopoly money, just to be safe. (we had already rang up his items, and I had the 20 on the till while making his change). He grumbled took his money and left. LOL UsuallyIm  very people friendly, but not only does that get old, but eventually it's going to be treated as they do  "im gonna blow this place up"... SIGH
