I repeat:  I need someone to fix the world so I can get some sleep.

Its late, or early.  Depends on how you look at it.  At any rate, its almost 2am.  Art and Dickidoo are listening to the news, we still aren't sure what exactly is unfolding but there is no doubt that it is not good.  I don't know how it will affect Gabe, I only know that it will.  And I don't know how it will affect Art, but I know it already has.  He listens to the news from Israel and Lebanon with the intensity of someone who has something to gain from the knowledge, someone who knows that this is the start of something they will have to deal with later.  There is a knot in my throat the size of a boulder.  I want to dissuade him, but I can't because it is not my future that is at stake, its that of his own children, and their children... its their future and he has the right to defend that.  I am proud that he is already thinking of that.  I am saddened that he should have to think of that.  He is only 16.

The girls are at their friend's house for the night.  That means I can sleep in without being interrupted by their bickering.  Nope, their friend's parents get the privilege of that.  They may never invite my girls to spend the night again, but hey, at least I get one quiet morning out of it.

My zero-scaping has finally paid off.  After 2 weeks of rain, I discovered grass growing in my front yard.  I don't know where it came from, probably from some bird's butt, but who cares, I have grass in my yard.  By the way, that's 'grass' as in singular, not 'grass' as in plural.  Needless to say I've become very protective of my grass and am constantly screaming for the kids not to step on it.  And I swear to goodness golly that if one of those stupid neighborhood cats who thinks that my yard is their litter box decides to 'mark' my blade of grass I'll hang that feline over the fireplace in between the two bull elk mounts!

It is too early in my book for anyone to have to be awake.  I think that if I play here for a little bit longer, I will be able to go sleep.

I, too, have been watching the news from Israel; it doesn't bode well for any of us.

I hope that you will be able to get some sleeps soon!

I am so sad about what is going on over there that I couldn't sleep, either.  My husband and I just watched Munich the other night--very good film, but probably NOT what you want to be watching.

I pray for Gabe constantly. Call me if you want. Tabby's birthday party is today, from 5-8 PM but other'n that I am free.

lots of love and hugs and tell Zach there are lots of ways to serve his country without going to war. His mom has already been through enough pain for one lifetime.

love, Kas

Yes, the news out of the mid east is very sobering and not terribly conducive to sleep...  Enjoy your grass.
