THE SKY IS FALLING!

I have a new name.  It is 'Chicken Little'.  I don't mind, I think its kind of cute.  No, the sky isn't really falling, but there is a big winter storm heading this way.

Or so the friend of an acquaintance says.

I don't normally spread rumors based on something the friend of an acquaintance said, but this friend of an acquaintance happens to work for the Space Command, or Space Center, or Space Something... so when he says that they have been tracking a storm that has the potential of being the kind of storm that only comes around once in a century, then I take heed and plan to be prepared.

Dickidoo and his friends are laughing at me.  People at work wiggle their fingers and say 'Wooooooooo... here comes the Storm of the Century!'.  I just laugh.  I can take a little teasing.  But I shall be the one laughing later as I sip hot cocoa in front of a roaring fire in my den while the storm rages outside and the non-believers shiver in unpreparedness.

My acquaintance is embarrassed and says he will be so angry if his friend's prediction doesn't come to pass.  The way I see it... if the storm of the century passes us by and we are spared, then that's a good thing.  But, if the storm does develop as predicted, then I shall be prepared.  I even switched my day off so I can be there to help when the pre-storm rush hits the store, and then I will be off on Friday when the storm hits... sipping hot cocoa in front of a roaring fire.

I've already had enough snow for the year, and this is only 9 days in.  Hibernation still sounds good to me.

* Weather Update:  50% chance of snow on Friday... (Chicken Little my butt!)

oh just stock up a bit, do you have a fireplace? If so, plenty of wood for the fire..so you all will be nice and toasty...while the weather outside is frightful.  Seriously hope the storm is not too bad for you guys you have had enough....Sandi

Hey, I always go and pick up water/other drinks/snack foods/etc when a hurricaine -might- hit near us. My theory is that we will drink the water and eat the snacks anyway, and if the storm DOES come at us I don't have to fight the crowds or find that the supplies are sold out!

I think being prepared (especially with the winter YOU are having) only makes sense!

If it snows down here there is a RUN on bread, milk, and eggs. But guess what Jody? I did get to see snow "flurries" here today...Oh how I miss it (at times). Great job on switching days...either way it is still a Friday off.

Hah!  I stay sweating in 75 degrees temperature here in Hawaii and the only snow in sight is 200 miles away on top of a volcano.  Sheeeeech!  I don't need the stuff and that's why I live in Hawaii afterall. Been there, done that and I didn't give a hoot for it then and don't now. You can have your predictions and your snow, but keep it away from my adobe hut in Hawaii.
By the by, the cabin and pavillion awaits a certain Dorn girl come February!!!  Come and leave that darn snow back on "The Big Island Place" and enjoy a little bit of Paradise for a few days.

Dad

P.S.  We'll have some (lots) of Corona for a girl wanting to change her latitude.

I am off Friday and had already cancelled plans to go out of town.  Might be a good day in stay in at that.

Hey, Dorn...I'm with your dad - sorta. Much as I dislike sweating, I dislike snow and ice even more. I dealt with it living in the Northeast my first 25 years...and I will soon have 25 years of Florida snow-free living under my belt.

Hey, we have Corona here too!! Come on down....

Everytime we see your winters we shudder....maybe we could move out there only for the summers?
