The fish tank

My son keeps a couple of fish in a small tank in my computer room where he is temporarily shacking up until he figures out what he's going to do with his life.  So these little bug-eyed critters swim and swish around in their little mini-ecosystem day and night, round and around they go.  Usually when I sit down at the computer they come to my side of the tank and stare at me.  Lately now days though they seem sad and look at me with puppy dog eyes... yes, fish can have puppy dogs eyes... and the reason suddenly dawned on me.... the answer was right there in one of my earlier entries...  Fish pee in the water they swim in.   The water hasn't been changed since he moved in back in May... those poor little guys have been swimming around in their own pee for 2 1/2 months!   Can you imagine?  And I thought MY house was bad!

ooo, they are dying.....just put them in a glass of water and clean their house and put em back....or put them outta misery and flush 'em down the toilet...

(I know you didn't ask me, just saying...)

I never thought about that , your right they can have puppy dog eye's. I bet that is the problem. Maybe he should change the water. lol We had a tank once. I refused to clean it, and hubby got tired of doing it so he gave the fish away and put the tank away. lol
Have a great day.

Get a good filter. I never change the water in my tank and it stays sparkling clean. Although I do have algae eaters too. They will get sick and die soon if it stays like that. Poor fishes..

Poor fish! They deserve some top-notch Aquafina after what they've been through

We are due to change our tank soon.  Sigh. It is over a hundred gallons...but in general, change one third of the water once a week to get the ammonia level down. You can also buy these little packets of what looks like white kitty litter to help soak up the fish pee...
