911 and Hey Koolaid!

Yesterday I made my very first 911 call.  The operator answered '911 operator, what is your emergency?' so I told her.... I gave my location, then informed her that one of my customers had fallen and hit her head against a shelf.  She was laying on the floor, obviously bleeding from the back of her head, while a huge knot was forming on her forehead, and she was having what appeared to be a seizure.

The operator freaked!  She started yelling over the phone for me to be calm, and she kept making me repeat everything, insisting that I not hang up on her, to stay with her.  Oh my gosh, this was probably her first real emergency call, I know they get dozens of calls from kids or miss-dials from cell phones.  Suddenly I found myself trying to calm the operator down... 'Yes mamame I'm still here... yes mamame, I'll still at the same location... No mamame, I'm not going to hang up...'.  I'll bet she was relieved when the EMTs arrived and took over the situation.  She'll be fine I'm sure... the patient that is.  I'm not so sure about the operator, she probably needed to get out and unwind or something, poor thing.  I would really put money on it being her first emergency call.  She had 2 different squads there in about 5 minutes though, hows that for service?  A job well done by all!

Someone busted me buying 10 packets of Koolaid today.  It was my friend's husband.  'So, you drink Koolaid, do you?'  Well, that was a dumb question!  'No, I drink Corona, but I don't like to share so I buy the kids Koolaid!'.  But you know what.... when I was a kid we used to get the Koolaid packets and dip our fingers into them and suck the flavor off.  My mom used to wonder where all the Koolaid would disappear, but she never said anything about our red, orange, green and purple fingers.  I tried it recently, ewwwww!  That stuff is so sour I don't know how I could stand it back then!

I remember my youngest who was about 4 at the time sneak a pack of koolaid with him into my Suburban, although I didn't know this at the time, I had glanced back into the rear view mirror to see what I thought was BLOOD all over his mouth and lower portion of his face and neck, needless to say I freaked out and pulled the truck over, called 911 on my cell and told the operator that my son was bleeding profusely from his mouth, by the time I climbed all the way into the back seat, I saw the package of open koolaid that he had opened and was dunking his wet fingers into, to eat and had started to drool which made the red spread everywhere, I then told the 911 operator, "never mind grrrrr!" and tried to explain what really happened only to have to wait at the scene where I had pulled over for them to send out a squad, just in case!
OHHH VEYYYYY! Even the EMT't thought it was blood when they first arrived! lol

You get the presweetened kind... Right?? It doesn't taste to bad <LOL>... Remember Pixie stix?? I still like them! It's just G and I here, but I always have a pitcher of Pink Lemonade/strawberry Lemonade/or Tang made up in the fridge... I keep bottles of water in there too, but we don't really care for plain water... so the sugared water keeps us from drinking so many sodas <g>.... As for 911, Aren't they supposed to train those people???

Hey!! Its good that you were able to keep your cool during the call, other wise, it would have been a mess! Anyways, ive only ever had to call 911 twice. Both for fires ( I live in southern california), and its such a scary thing to hear. I hate the "911, whats your emergency?" But I'm glad that everything turned out fine..Take care!!

When I was a kid, we used to have an ice cream truck guy who also sold pickles....those big sour ones....and the kids would buy one, and then dip the pickle in the kool aid pack and eat it.  (NOT the sweetened stuff, either!)  ::shudder::  That's one delicacy I always passed on.  :)  Give me a glass of sweetened kool aid and life is good.  pickles and kool aid?  no thank you...

This entry really makes me laugh because we have just recently got a 911 station in my town and my friend went and put an application in. When she told me and some of our other friends that she did that we all had a running joke about it. We told her that with the way she is the first time she got a real call she would freak out and tell them to they needed to call 911. lmao.

Hi, Sis! Yeah, that was a great sneak treat, huh? If Mother couldn't tell by the colored tongues and fingers, she could tell by the color we left behind when we filled the packet to the top with sugar and tried to stir it with a teaspoon! Sour gummies have nothing on our stolen Kool-Aid!
